power bi licensing overview

The akoyaGO contact for your organization is assigned a Power BI Professional License (Pro license). The Pro license allows your organization access to Power BI capabilities and the ability to grant or deny permissions to your Power BI dashboards. We understand that that person might be right for the akoyaGO contact, but not the right person to control Power BI access for your organization. If you aren’t sure who is the akoyaGO contact, reach out to our Support Team or your Account Manager. In this whitepaper we will look at how to reassign your Power BI Pro license.

*Please note all your akoyaGO users have a Power BI Free license. This only allows them to see Power BI features in your database once given access by the Pro license holder.

reassigning a license

You will manage your Power BI license in either the Microsoft 365 Admin portal or the Azure portal. You will need to have been given prior admin access to complete these steps.

Microsoft 365 Admin Portal

1. Log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin portal at office.com then click the Admin icon in the list of apps on the left side of the screen, or search for and select the Admin app

2. Navigate to Users, then Active Users.

3. Find and select the akoyaGO contact in the list of Active Users (even if it is yourself). Click on the Licenses and apps tab, scroll down the list of licenses until you see Powe BI Pro, and uncheck the box; save changes.

4. You will now have 1 of 1 Power BI Pro licenses available. Navigate back to Active Users, select the person you would like to assign the license to, click on the Licenses and apps tab in their User, scroll down the list of Licenses, and check Power BI Pro; save changes.
