  Validate 1099 Amounts

As of January 21, 2026 there is an active bug in the 1099 Document generation in Business Central. Payments applied to more than one invoice may result in miscalculation of the 1099 amount for a vendor. While Microsoft is working on a permanent resolution for this issue, clients should use the following steps to validate the calculated 1099 amounts, as well as audit the produced results.

1. From the IRS 1099 Form Documents screen, after Documents have been generated, select "Validate 1099 Amounts"

2. This tool will identify vendors where the calculated 1099 amount may be incorrect due to payments applied to multiple invoices. For any identified errors, it will suggest adjustments. Select "Yes" to view adjustments.

3. After reviewing the proposed adjustments, select "Close". The system will prompt to create 1099 Adjustments. Click "Yes" to create adjustments.

4. Click "Yes" to recreate the 1099 Documents.

5. Enter the Period value and toggle on the Replace option. Then click "OK"

6. Select "Yes" to replace the existing 1099 forms

7. Review 1099 Documents to confirm values.
