Revised 03/19/2026

Overview

Due to a Microsoft change, links added using the old method may no longer be clickable in akoyaGO email templates. To ensure your emails continue working as expected, akoyaGO now uses a simple text format to create clickable links and button‑style actions.

Important:
Links added using this new format will automatically become clickable when the email is sent. No technical knowledge is required—just follow the format shown below.

When Should I Use This?

Use this format whenever you need to include a link in an akoyaGO email template, such as:

  • Complete Your Application
  • View Grant Agreement
  • Log In to the Donor Portal
  • View Documents or Forms

The Required Link Format

To create a clickable link, type it in this format:

[Link text](https://your-link-here.com)
  • Text inside the brackets is what the recipient clicks
  • The web address in parentheses is where the link goes

Example:

https://akoyago.com

Optional: Add a Tooltip (Hover Text)

You can optionally add a short message that appears when someone hovers over the link (in some email clients):

[Visit our website](https://akoyago.com title="akoyaGO website")

Note:
Not all email apps display tooltips. Do not rely on tooltips for important instructions. Always include critical information directly in the email text.

Make a Link Look Like a Button

You can make important links stand out by styling them like buttons using the email editor’s formatting tools.

[Complete Your Application](https://portal.yourfoundation.org/apply)
  1. Select the link text in the editor
  2. Apply formatting such as:
    • Bold text
    • Text color
    • Background color (if available)
  3. Save the template and send a test email

Note:
Styling does not affect how the link works. akoyaGO will still recognize and convert the link correctly.
